WMBA Scholarship Presentation

The WMBA Treasurer Andy Arno presented two college scholarships to local college students on July 11, 2007. We would like to congratulate Ryan O'Kelly and Alisha Abbott for being this years recipients. These two had to qualify by showing their dedication to their future and to the West Melbourne community.

    
 

Park named in honor of West Melbourne's Jan Lieson

More than 50 local leaders and residents were on hand to attend the dedication of the Jan Lieson Crossroads Park on February 5. "This is a special day in the city's history", said David Reynal, the city manager.

Ms. Lieson has served West Melbourne for more than 21 years, with 16 of those on the city council. She started as a member of the citizens advisory board and then ended up on more then half dozen other boards before it was all said and done. "Jan worked hard", said Mayor Hal Rose. "She always came to meetings prepared."

The ceremony ended with Ms. Lieson saying "I wouldn't be here today if it hadn't been for each and every one of you". We all congratulate you Ms. Jan Lieson and thank you for your service.
